Kenmare: This is the nearest town approximately  twenty minutes drive from the property. This is a 'Heritage Town' which  has its own heritage centre and is one of the gourmet eating towns in Southern Ireland.
 Here you will find chemists, doctors, library, churches,  garage and a large selection of colourful shops, restaurants and cafes. The shops in Kenmare offer a range of local Irish crafts, jewellery, clothing and food. The 'Seafari' in Kenmare offers 'Eco Nature Cruises'. The Gulf  Stream flows into the Bay of Kenmare and creates a warm climate perfect for Sea Otters and Seals. The bird life includes Herons, Oyster Catchers  and Kingfishers. Healey Pass: This pass which takes you from the  'An Sibin'pub in Lauragh to Adrigole/Castletownbere. Here you will find  spectacular views of the Ring of Kerry and Ring of Beara also fantastic walking.

The 'Healy Pass' offers some fantastic walking - you can walk from the pass to Hungry Hill which boasts the biggest waterfall in Ireland.  Small local gift shop. (10 minutes from property)

 Kenmare - An Appetite for Life

Castletownbere: A small friendly fishing town  which boasts the famous pub 'McCarthy' s Bar' (featured in the best seller  by Pete MacCarthy). Cafes and bars are plentiful. Harbour walk and fishermans co op where you can buy fresh fish. (45 minutes from property)

Dunboy Castle: Situated on the outskirts of Castletownbere is well worth a visit. It stands beside the remains of the older O'Sullivan Bere Castle destroyed in 1602. The Castle and its history, built by the  Puxley family was the basis for the Daphne Du Maurier novel 'Hungry Hill'.  (Wheelchair access, 45 minutes from property)

Glengariff: This very popular tourist spot has a good selection of eating places and pubs. A trip to 'Garnish Island' is well worth taking. A boat trip leaves Glengariff every five to ten  minutes, (you will see local seals on route) to the Italian Gardens, located  in the sheltered harbour of Glengariff Bay. It is renowned for its richness of plant form and colour as well as the Italian buildings themselves.  Tourist Board Tel 02763084. (45 minutes from property)

Killarney: Killarney is one of Irelands best known tourist destinations. The combination of mountains, lakes and ancient  forests is without equal. This town is very dedicated to its visitors  and offers a plethora of craft shops, galleries, museums, cafes and restaurants. There is a range of guided tours including the traditional horse drawn Jaunting Cars, Killarney National Park and ancient heritage sites. The fishing here is famous and there are several famous golf courses. If you take the original 'Molls Gap' route to Killarney you will pass through some of the most spectacular scenery you are likely to see. Tourist Board Tel 06431633.

Muckross House: Situated at Killarney this house offers magnificent views over the lake district as well as Muckross Abbey, the house and gardens, Dinls Cottage and Torc Waterfall.

Bantry: Bantry is situated at the northern end of Bantry Bay and is a busy market town, port and tourist centre. Bantry offers lots to the visitor including Bantry House built in 1750. Bantry Bay, (an area of outstanding beauty) is one of the largest and deepest  natural bays in Europe. The mussels from Bantry have become very big business and are exported everywhere.
